Compatibility depends entirely on which sign is being compared, and nobody says which one they used.
Most compatibility charts you will find compare Sun signs, without saying so. That is one comparison among several, and it is not the one Vedic astrology considers most telling.
None of these overrides the others. They describe different layers, and a pair can be easy on one and difficult on another.
Two reasons, and both are about method rather than opinion.
The zodiac. We use the sidereal zodiac, measured against the stars, which is the one Vedic astrology uses. Most compatibility charts use the tropical zodiac, anchored to the equinox. The two sit about 24 degrees apart, so most people have a different sign in each system, and a different sign has a different ruling planet. The full explanation is here.
The body. We compare Moons rather than Suns, because that is what the tradition reads for temperament.
Put together, that means a pairing your usual chart calls difficult may read as easy here, and the reverse. Neither chart is broken. They are measuring different things and rarely admit it.
Graha Maitri — the natural friendship between the planets ruling two Moon signs. It is canonical, it is fixed, and it is one of the eight factors traditional matching uses, worth 5 points out of 36.
We say the weight out loud because the number matters. A single five-point factor is worth knowing and is not worth deciding anything on.
We do not produce a kundli matching or Ashtakoota score. That system adds seven further factors and totals 36 points, and it is used mainly for arranged marriages in India. It is a real tradition with real practitioners. We have not built it, so we will not print a number that resembles it.
Any of this needs your real Moon sign first, and it is usually not the one you already know.
Find my Moon signIt depends what you are asking. Sun signs compare outward roles and are what most Western charts use. Moon signs compare emotional temperament and are what Vedic astrology leads with. Rising signs compare the immediate impression two people make on each other. They are different questions, not competing answers.
Because the signs themselves differ. The sidereal zodiac used in Vedic astrology sits about 24 degrees from the tropical zodiac used in the West, so most people have a different sign in each system. A different sign means a different ruling planet, and the compatibility reading changes with it.
No. Ashtakoota matching scores eight factors out of 36 and is used mainly for arranged marriages. We compute one of those eight, Graha Maitri, and label it as one factor rather than presenting a total we have not built.
Astrology here is offered for reflection and self-understanding. It is not prediction, diagnosis or advice, and no outcome is promised. Nothing on this page should be used to decide whether to be with someone. The astronomy behind it is real and calculated; what any of it means is a tradition of interpretation, presented as exactly that.
